Bloomington, Indiana
IU Student Rec Center
This unique building on Indiana University’s campus includes a continuous row of roof monitors, each with a sloped roof area. The roof monitors provide light to the building interior but also presented access challenges at the roof level. As part of a roof renovation project, Peak Fall Protection was contracted to provide various horizontal lifeline systems to support access along each of the sloped roof areas, accessible from a catwalk at one end of the building. Anchors would have constant exposure to moisture from the swimming pool below, and were fabricated from stainless steel to prevent long term corrosion. The continuous travel horizontal lifeline system now provides safe, convenient access and is virtually maintenance free.
